2019 ARTISTS TO BE CONFIRMED

Below are some of the main acts that performed at the previous Cardiff Mela events:

IMRAN KHAN

Imran Khan is a Dutch-Pakistani, urban Punjabi singer, songwriter and composer. He became known in 2007 after his first single "Ni Nachleh" became a global smash hit. Khans next released single, Amplifier, was produced by Eren E and was released on 12 July 2009 and received 2 million views on YouTube on it first week of release and currently has over 150 million and counting views on YouTube. His third single, "Bewafa," was produced by Hakan Ozan and was released in 2008; the music video of Bewafa had been viewed approximately 40 million+ times on YouTube. In July 2 Unforgettable. His album, 'Unforgettable' was nominated for Best Album in the 2010 UK Asian Music Awards. In 2011, Khan departed from Prestige Records to start his own label, later known as IK Records.

JASSI SIDHU

Jassi Sidhu is a Bhangra singer and the former lead singer of British Indian bhangra band B21. He split from the group, declaring that they would "never, ever reconcile and that (B21 was) nothing more than a glorified mime act", quoting differences between himself and Bally Jagpal. He has released five solo albums to date. Reality check in 2003, No Strings Attached in 2005, The New Adventures of Jassi Sidhu in 2008, Singing Between The Lines in 2011 & Coleshill Road in 2014. Sidhu was born and raised in Birmingham, West Midlands, England, and now has a blossoming solo career, having toured many countries since going solo from the US to the Far East.

H DHAMI

H Dhami is Hartinder Dhami better known as H-Dhami is a British-Indian Bhangra act. H-Dhami signed in 2007 to Rishi Rich Productions and also signed a deal with Sony BMG India for distribution in India. H-Dhami is the son of Palvinder Dhami, lead singer of the 1980's prominent Bhangra group Heera Group UK. H-Dhami released his debut album Sadke Java in 2008. It includes collaborations with Roach Killa, Anand Sharma Manu, Chaaya and Mumzy Stranger. In 2010, H-Dhami was featured on the single "Gereh Kad Dee", the second single from PBN (Panjabi By Nature)'s album Crowd Pleaser. He collaborated with Mumzy Stranger for a Desi-version remix of Stranger's "One More Dance". He also collaborated with the only North-American Bhangra band En Karma on the song "Tere Bina Nahi Nachna". In 2010, he did a Desi mix of Raghav's "So Much" and a remix of Preeya Kalidas' "Shimmy".

BOMBAY ROCKERS

Bombay Rockers is a Danish/Indian band. Their debut album 'Introducing' went five times platinum with sales of over 100,000 albums. In 2002, the Indian singer Navtej Singh Rehal was introduced to the Scandinavian producer-team WCA (Thomas Sardorf and Janus Barnewitz) and started out mixing a hybrid of R&B, Hip Hop and Bhangra-influenced vocals, reflecting on their varied cultural backgrounds. Their first collaboration, "Ari Ari", got massive national airplay in Denmark and became a favourite of left field DJs.'Sexy Mama', their follow-up, released in late 2003, was the first official single from their album 'Introducing.' This track again received airplay all over the country. The next hit single 'Rock tha Party' became a major radio hit. Danish national radio had it on A-rotation, it was on top of the Danish Dance Chart and the Danish Single Chart. It was published on various compilations released in Denmark throughout 2004. Bombay Rockers' debut album was released in more than 32 countries worldwide in 2005.

JUGGY D

Juggy D is Jagwinder Singh Dhaliwal is a British singer from Southall, London, England. Juggy D has been performing since the age of 14 and made his breakthrough alongside Jay Sean. Juggy D has also appeared on numerous crossover singles with musicians such as Madonna, Ricky Martin, Mary J. Blige and Craig David.Juggy D has collaborated with Veronica Mehta and Rishi Rich in the Bollywood movie Hum Tum. He, Mehta, and Jay Sean also have guest appearances in the Hindi film Kyaa Kool Hai Hum. They sing the Jay Sean song "One Night," featuring added vocals from Veronica. He also is one of the first people to experiment with Bhangraton. Juggy D's debut album, Juggy D, was released in 2004 and became the first Punjabi language album to enter the UK national charts.

LEHMBER HUSSAINPURI

Lehmber Hussainpuri is regarded as the worlds finest Punjabi vocalists and hails from India. Lehmber burst onto the mainstream bhangra scene after various collaborations with UK producers and is the vocalist behind many bhangra anthems. Having worked with RDB, Panjabi MC, Dr Zeus, Swami and Miss Pooja, this Punjabi singer should create a storm on the main stage at the 2014 Cardiff Mela. Hits such as Sadi Gali, Das Ja, Mera Mahi Tu Pateya, Desi Rock, Chalakiyan, Ne Baliye, Ah Ni Kuria & Sachiyan Suniyan are just a few of his international hit songs. His vocals and songs have even featured in many Bollywood films!

STEREO NATION

Stereo Nation is Tarsame Singh Saini also known as Taz Stereo Nation and previously Johnny Zee. He is a British singer, composer and actor of Indian descent. He is the lead singer of the pop band Stereo Nation which was formed in 1996. He is credited with being the pioneer of cross-cultural Asian fusion music. He first hit the charts in 1989 with the album "Hit the Deck" which spent over 36 weeks on the UK Asian pop charts at number one. The album was produced by Tom Lowry. He went on to produce many albums in the 1990s and early 2000s which were hugely successful. To date, all but two of his albums have received gold platinum and multi-platinum discs. His most successful album to date is "Slave II Fusion", released in 2000, which includes many of his most well-known hit songs including "Pyar Ho Gaya", "Nachenge Saari Raat", and "Gallan Gorian". His music videos also feature actors before they became famous. His video "Ishq" features model and actress Koena Mitra and "Pyar Ho Gaya" features actor Shiny Ahuja.

JAZ DHAMI

Jaz Dhami is Jaswinder Singhm a music artist of the Folkhop genre, signed in 2008 to Sanchez Productions Ltd. Jaz Dhami native of Sandhra Sodhia in the Hoshiarpur district and is of Punjabi, Sikh origin. He was raised in Birmingham, Handsworth. He is the son of Bikramjit Dhami, lead vocalist of the Bhangra band Sangam. From the age of nine Jaz's vocal abilities were recognized by his father. At the age of 9, Jaz began on his musical journey, undertaking tutorials in Indian classical training in Birmingham, England. He went on to release the international hit "High Heels" and the rest is history.

APACHE INDIAN

Apache Indian is Steven Kapur and is a British singer-songwriter and reggae DJ. He had a series of worldwide hits during the 90's. Born into a family of Punjabi, Kapur was raised in Handsworth, Birmingham, UK, a racially mixed area with large Black and Asian communities, home of reggae bands such as Steel Pulse and UB40, and by the early 1980s he was working with local sound systems and grew dreadlocks. By the mid-1980s he had trimmed his hair and began to make a name for himself as a dancehall deejay. Apache recorded his first single in 1990, "Movie Over India", initially a white-label pressing, until it was picked up by the reggae distributor Jet Star. The single mixed ragga and bhangra sounds and was hugely popular among audiences of both genres. Two further singles followed in a similar vein, "Chok There" and "Don Raja", bringing him to the attention of the major labels, and in 1992 he signed a recording contract with Island Records. t was followed by Make Way for the Indian which featured rapper Tim Dog and spawned the hit, "Boom Shack-A-Lak". "Boom Shack-A-Lak" is featured in several Hollywood movies, including Dumb and Dumber and Dumb and Dumber Too. It is also featured on the soundtrack for Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, along with artists such as Fatboy Slim, The B-52's, 2 Unlimited and New Radicals and the movie "Threesome".

NAVIN KUNDRA

Navin Kundra is Navin Kundra is a British singer/songwriter, who writes, composes and performs songs in Hindi, Punjabi and English. Navin has achieved six number one singles in the Asian Charts, and won the 2013 'Entertainer of the Year' Award in the Houses of Parliament. In 2012, Navin was appointed ambassador of the diabetes charity, Silver Star. Since becoming one of their ambassadors, Navin has helped the charity raise funds by performing at fundraising events across the UK. Navin has delivered talks at youth conferences across the UK. In October 2013, Navin became the first British Asian singer to be invited to St James's Palace to perform for TRH Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall along with other guests. In November 2015, Navin was a headline performer at Wembley Stadium in London, for the visit of the PM of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

PANJABI HIT SQUAD

Panjabi Hit Squad are British DJs, producers and radio broadcasters for BBC Asian Network and formerly BBC 1Xtra. The group recorded several albums, including Desi Beats Vol 1 with Def Jam. They have won the UK Asian Music Awards three times, in 2003, 2005 and 2012. They produced two albums for Ms Scandalous, Ladies First and Aag. Panjabi Hit Squad started their broadcasting career on BBC 1Xtra in 2002 where they hosted the Desi Beats. In 2012 they won the UK AMA for Best Club DJ. Panjabi Hit Squad host their own 2 hour mix show on the in-flight systems of every Emirates flight.

TEAM PBN

He is a well known name in the Asian music scene, his songs have topped charts, ruled dance floors and made their way in to the hearts and minds of Bhangra fans across the world. Over the last decade PBN has gone from strength to strength, honed his skills, developed his sound and established himself as a leading music artist and now he is turning his attention to nurturing emerging UK talent. Team PBN is a collective of two fresh new voices, Raj Bains and Babi and the renowned artist PBN. Each with their own unique style and sound, they have come together to take the music scene by storm and make their mark on the global Urban Desi scene.

BONAFIDE

Bonafide is duo consisting of Maz and Ziggy, the two talented artists who grew up together in Manchester and both share a strong passion for music, have encompassed different styles and influence to create their own Brit-Asian sound which is sure to be embedded into your musical conscious. Singer / rapper Maz describes the Bonafide sound: "at its heart it's hip-hop and R'n'B with a dash of other flavours from around us that give us musical inspiration. It's a real fusion of styles - you have a Desi influence fused with beats that range from the Latino reggaeton vibes to smooth jazz funk to straightforward dance floor beats with a Spanish and Arabic vibe".

ARJUN

Arjun is a London-based singer, songwriter and producer. Heavily influenced by the soulful, guitar-based sounds of late 90s R&B, and inspired by the likes of Craig David and Donell Jones, Arjun has developed an organic yet contemporary sound palette that makes him stand out from the current crop of UK R&B artists. Equally comfortable performing solo with acoustic guitar or backed by street dancers, Arjun has become a force to be reckoned with live. He has been receiving tremendous support internationally after his cover of a popular Indian song went viral reaching 10 million views in a few months.
